live, from the kgo broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. good evening. i'm aeric thomas. a hunger strike, and the frisco five were hospitalized after more than two weeks without solid food. last night they ended their fast and today they want to send an even stronger message. >> reporter: hours after ending their hunger strike, the frisco five is putting out this message on social media, calling for an

all-day protective and general protest. they ended their hunger strike after they were admitted to the hospital for declining health. it came after religious leaders offered them a prayer for strength. >> they served our community so well after lifting up so much pain and anger in our community because of the way people have been treated by law enforcement. >> reporter: friday night, protesters who supported the frisco five stormed city hall and refused to leave. 33 people were arrested. now the group wants a general strike, asking citizens to boycott work, school, and avoid spending money at big box retaile retailers. this candidate will honor the strike, and a rally be postponed in honor of the message. >> it doesn't just require people to starve or die, there are other ways we can make clear

that reform is not just a talking point for the mayor, something that actually he should do. >> appreciate what he did. >> reporter: but some folks can't promise their support. >> that's not going to happen. we need to survive. we need to pay our rent and bills. everybody's living paycheck to paycheck. >> i think that's a nice wish, but for most people, they can't afford to not go to school or miss their job. we have a lot of problems here besides injustice. >> reporter: the city hall protest is scheduled from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. a san lorenzo man is in jail after slamming his fedex truck into a police officer. he was under the influence when i crashed on highway 50 yesterday near downtown sacramento. an officer who was investigating another accident was hit. he remains in the hospital but is expected to be okay.

in pittsburg, police are investigating. a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound and taken to a hospital and expected to survive. no arrests have been maide. a group of church members were not allowed inside their place of worship for mother's day. we were on 71st avenue as they found themselves locked out. their pastor uncovered a dispute involving spending by church deacons. that discovery has created a split in the church that's been going on for more than a month now. they're hoping to work things out soon. >> the best resolution would be for all parties to sit down together and try to work out the differences so that we can all come together in unity. >> abc 7 news reached out to church deacons to get their side of the story, and we were told no comment. a woman is accused of using dating websites to find victims

and steal their personality. she found her victims through dating and rental websites and got access to their homes. she would go through their belongings and use personal information to open new lines of credit. she has felony convictions for fraud dating back to 1997 and uses several fake names and will be in court on thursday. bernie sanders will hold a rally on tuesday in stockton. california's primary is june 7, but voters can cast early ballots beginning tomorrow. donald trump is ignoring bernie sanders but has begun attacking hillary clinton and republicans who refuse to back him. lori river year ra has more from washington. >> in my opinion, the taxes for the rich will go up somewhat. >> reporter: he's already walking back his tax plan. >> by the time it's negotiated,

bad news for tourists hoping to see the san francisco made famous in "full house." it will shut down for much-needed renovations to the irrigation system which is expected to result in 37% water savings. today tourists hoping to

park at the golden gate bridge were turned away. it will happen again memorial day weekend and 4th of july weekend. you can still take public transportation, a taxi or ride-sharing service to reach the bridge. in 2014, lombard street was shut down to all vehicles during peak hours because of overcrowding. the city considered it a success and is now considering a long-term plan to possibly limit access. gas prices are on the rise. 50 cents over the last three months. analysts believe it's because crude oil prices are going you. the average price in the u.s. is is $2.27 a gallon. key stars are making an unprecedented come back. a virus killed thousands of

there are few mothers day gifts better than a new bundle of joy. abc 7 news was at sa kwoiqua hospital to meet rose. m mom, dad and brother were happy to meet the new one. >> it can be very hard and challenging, but it's so rewarding. >> they work really hard. she's, she's my motivation. i work for her. >> yes, you do. hospital staff handed out pink cupcakes and pink roses to all the new moms today. in san francisco, a special mothers day for homeless moms. the center shared these pictures. a group of fathers cooked for the mothers and their families. afterwards they got their hair and makeup done. the shelter is one of those who

shelter folks in san francisco. what a recovery made this afternoon. so much sunshine. and that's going to be the trend for the second half of your monday. but first we'll have to deal with cloud cover coming in right now. live doppler 7 hd, we've had on and off light showers. that system that was responsible for that wet weather is now off to the east. and now we're going to see the flip side of the coin, and that's the conscioutha that's the sunshine. a live look showing you the fog, yes, it was there. it stayed along the coast for most of the afternoon. folks enjoying the bay under bright skies, but now clouds are pushing in. we now have overcast skies over the city of san francisco. clouds are marching their way east inland. right now, most spots you can sigh are holding the 50s, 62 and 61 respectively here, but

otherwise, 55 in san francisco. 54, santa rosa, and san jose coming in at 59 degrees. tonight with the clouds rolling in, they kind of act like a blanket. temperatures aren't going to fall from their current numbers too far. 50 in san francisco, we'll talk about 52 in san jose, and cooler spots in the north bay, 49 in napa. we'll time-out the cloud cover and coastal fog. monday morning, 7:00 in the morning, a fair amount of cloud cover. we'll call it overcast skies. by lunch time, it's going to pull back to the coast. the majority of the area is seeing sunny skies. the only exception, it's very typical, right along the coast where the clouds are going to hold on. but the sunshine inland will get us to the low and mid-70s. closer to the bay, more in the way of 60s.

68 santa rosa and half moon bay with a fair a cloud cover, limited sunshine. a high of only 59 degrees. the next four days, tree and mold are still at moderate levels. the next four days your uv index will be at very high levels. the sun right now is strong as it is in early july. that means unprotected skin can burn in 15 minutes. temperatures take off inland. we warm into the low 80s, 60s and 70s around the bay, even midweek, a very similar setup with above normal temperatures and really warm temperatures take over the seven-day forecast. we'll show you, it's cloud first thing tomorrow. then sunshine by the afternoon. very typical pattern. similar setup on tuesday but warmer in the afternoon. by wednesday and thursday, we're used to this time of year. picture perfect on friday. no fog.
